Mairena tableware range

Inspired by the white villages of the Spainish Alpujarras, this tableware range celebrates outdoor casual dining.

The body of the jug is thrown. Its neck is a cast slab formed into a cylinder. The spout and handle are hand-pulled.

Chromium, Red Iron Oxide and Rutile colour a reactive, runny glaze which creates the honey browns and greens of the almond groves famed in the region. A chalky dolomite glaze represents the white washed have buildings of the White Villages. And the cornflower blue glaze, coloured with cobalt, tin and chromium, mirrors the typical colour of local doors and shutters as well as the sky.

A motif of an impish face is a reminder of the tap in the water font at the centre of Mairena; the place everyone meets. The font is fed by a 500 year old irrigation system - the same system that fills the fountains and pools of the Alhambra Palace in Granada.

The stoneware jug is perfect for chilled gazpacho. The platter for salty sausage, olives and cheese. The wine cooler and smaller jug complete the set.

Large jug 40cm x 30cm - volume 2 litres £80, Platter 50cm x 25cm £50, Wine cooler 30cm x 30cm £40, Small jug 30cm x 20cm - volume 75cl £35
